Kumihimo is a traditional Japanese art of braiding and cord making that involves gathering and interlacing thin threads or yarns to create intricate patterns and designs.  The word “kumihimo” literally translates to “gathered threads” Kumihimo cords have been used for a variety of purposes, including as accessories for kimonos and samurai armor, and as obijime, cords worn around the front of an obi.
